Committing to becoming a follower of Jesus Christ (a Christian) is an easy process; however deciding to make that commitment can be a challenge.
Truth
First, you need to believe that the Bible is God's Word and that it is true.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16 - 17
Admit
You need to understand that God is a holy God and created you to be holy as well. But through our nature, we sin and fall short of God's holiness. Our shortcomings separate us from God.
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," - Romans 3:23
Believe
In order for a sin to be atoned for, a sacrifice is required. God provided the sacrifice 2000 years ago by sending His son, Jesus. Jesus lived for about 33 years as a man (and as part of the trinity of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). In those 33 years Jesus never commited a sin. He was put to death by being crucified on a cross (a form of execution turned into a means of sacrifice) for the sins of all man kind. But then, three days later, God raised Jesus from the dead; paving a way for man to reconnect with God. If anyone believes that Jesus died for their sins, and accepts Jesus as Savior and Lord of thier life, then they will be saved.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
"and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." - Romans 3:24
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23
Confess
Once you have admitted that you are a sinner, and believe that Jesus died for your sins and is able to save you, the only thing left to do is confess. Confess to Jesus that you are a sinner and you fall short of God's glory. Tell Him you believe that He was sacrificed for your sins. Ask him to forgive you of your sins and to be the Lord and guide of your life. Then thank Him, for the wonderful thing he has done for you!
"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." - Romans 10:9 - 10
